Sans stiffened, every bone clicking where one ended and the other began. Humans called them joints. He breathed a sigh; it puffed around his parted teeth, a cumulus of bitter sorrow.
He felt cold, colder than the unending Snowdin winter. His phalanges pressed against her blood but remained clean. The snow had drained its vitality. A couple feet away, her body lay broken. She fell down the ragged cliff, a shortcut unfit for ascent. Her metaphorical wings shredded by rock and ice.
How many timelines did he have to fail before this beautiful soul could live beneath the sun again...

I think my drabble addiction is back. Oh dear. D:
Another little piece that half drifted into my head while I was bored at work. This drabble needed some re-working to fit the word limitation, but I am happy with the result. This happens in the past, when Frisk was throwing herself into all kinds of dangerous scenarios in her efforts to free the monsters. Sans, for all his trying, can't seem to keep her from harm, even after he's finally started caring about someone.
My initial inspiration was from boredom and one particular line still kept in the drabble. However, as I was pulling together the remaining text, I thought of this picture drawn by my bestie::origin()/pre03/94a3/th/pre/i/2016/171/b/d/not_good_enough_by_tekitourabbit-da6xngl.jpg)

This makes me really curious about everything that happened in previous timelines and resets... I can't imagine the pain Sans has gone and still is going through. My heart hurts for him.
